Overview
No news is good news. The Newport Folk and Jazz Festival attracts world-class talent and many music lovers who inherently expect a safe enjoyable experience. RDSI’s Public Safety practice ensures emergency coordination and safety for all.
The Customer
The Newport Festivals Foundation hosts an annual Folk and Jazz festival over a 10-day period in scenic Newport, Rhode Island. The organization has a stellar reputation for attracting world class jazz and folk music and music aficionados since 1954.
The Challenge
The Foundation is responsible for ensuring a safe environment to operate in while at the same time providing a seamless safe experience for all attendees and performers. With so many attendees, transitioning acts and multiple stages, the people movement is vast. The Foundation annually seeks a public safety coordinator to work with numerous law enforcement and first responder organizations utilizing many different surveillance and emergency techniques to ensure safety for all.
Our Solutions
RDSI provides event safety expertise at the festival. RDSI’s onsite team coordinates more than nine first responder teams including federal, state, and local first responders. For the past few years, RDSI has kept the public safe, protected the musical talent, coordinated VIP tours, and quickly mitigated minor fires and injuries.“We prefer that the festival only makes the news for its music,” says John Evans, President, RDSI.
